Wheels

Changing the way we commute

What is Wheels?

Problem

Although the UAE has an advanced infrastructure system and has been extending its road network expansively, traffic congestion is still a common problem. The Transport Research Laboratory has estimated that the annual loss in time and fuel due to traffic congestion in the UAE is 4.6 billion dirhams. Traffic congestion occurs for the most part because cars and taxis are being used by one person only. Moreover, citizens, who do not own a car, are forced to take expensive taxis, Ubers or Careems due to a lack of public transport options. The high costs of mobility is a huge financial burden for individuals without cars

Solution

Wheels aims to make the car use and traffic flow more efficient by encouraging ride sharing. Wheels is a platform where users, first of all, can easily compare prices of different ride-hailing services and, secondly, share taxi, Uber and Careem rides. Therefore, Wheels enables users to save money, time and the environment.

This idea of Wheels received funding from the Dubai Government through the Expo 2020 Innovation program last year. We have been in close contact with the Expo since then and recently launched our pilot version.

Our Technology

Easy. Fast. Reliable.

Our state of the art technology was developed by a team of talented international developers. Long nights and continuous efforts have enabled us to build a service which can be accessed both through iOS and Android. Our CTO Hashim Hayat has described the journey to develop our first prototype as a tremendously challenging task. However, getting a bit closer to a market-ready product every day has been one of the most rewarding experiences of his life.
